So you’ve taken the exciting step to enhance your lips with Lip Blush or Lip Tinting, yay! Now it’s time to understand what the healing process will look like. Healing is absolutely normal and happens in stages, and knowing what to expect makes the journey so much easier and more comfortable.

Every body heals differently, but here’s a general guide for what you’ll likely experience:
Days 1–3: Bold & Bright
Right after your appointment, your lips will appear bold, defined, and more intense in color, similar to a matte lipstick look. Swelling can happen (some clients experience more, some less), and this is totally normal. Trust the process, the initial color is not your final result.
Follow your provided aftercare instructions closely during this time.

Days 4–14: Shedding & Flaking
Your lips will begin to shed the temporary top layer of color — this is where you may see:
- Flaking that can look like chapped lips
- Uneven or patchy color
- A lighter, softer tone
- Do not pick at your lips. Let the shedding happen naturally.
- Continue aftercare and avoid irritating the lips.

Weeks 2–4: Soft Color Starts to Settle
At this point, your lips have finished shedding, and your color begins to soften and rebuild. You may notice: Slight unevenness of color appearing more vibrant and then softening
This is simply your melanin responding and adjusting. You can now begin using clean, gentle lip balms.

Weeks 5–6: Natural Color Emerges
Your body’s melanin response starts returning to normal. The true color from your treatment begins to show more evenly now.
This is a crucial time to continue gentle care.

Weeks 7–12: Final Healing + Touch-Up Phase
By now:
- Color is more stable and evenly blended
- Your lips are ready to build intensity if desired
- Most clients need at least 2 sessions to achieve their perfect, long-lasting color.
- This is when we schedule your touch-up appointment to perfect the shape and shade.

What to Avoid During Healing to protect your results:
- Picking or peeling the lips
- Intense sun exposure or tanning
- Lip injections (wait until fully healed!)
- Chemical peels / lightning treatments
- Smoking, yes, even that type
- Commercial lipsticks & balms with citrus, actives, or long-wear stains
What to Use During Healing
For the best healing outcome:
Week One: Use the aftercare product I provide
Daytime: Use an SPF lip balm (SPF 30+ strongly recommended)
Night-time: Apply a nourishing, gentle lip mask (such as Laneige)
Hydration is your best friend.
